Fountain of Youth | Fat Loss Over 40

Remember when you were younger and you wished you were older?  Well now that we’re older, many of us wish we were younger and yearn for our youth.  Does that describe you?

If you find yourself wishing you were younger, and looking to hold back the hands of time, and find your very own fountain of youth, you don’t have to.

The fountain of youth is within in you, and when you tap into your own personal fountain, you will feel alive, vibrant, healthy and energetic.

You just need to know how, and that’s exactly what I’m going to share with you.

It all starts with your mind

Youth is a state of mind and your body is a bi-product of your mind as mind and body work together synergistically.

You have to acknowledge what your mental aspect is towards your age and getting older.  If your health and fitness is not up to par, and you’re feeling tired and worn out all the time,  are you telling yourself….“I’m older.  I’m supposed to be tired.  It’s harder to be in shape.”

Whenever someone asks you, “how ya doin?”,  it’s time to stop saying to yourself and those around you “I’m hangin’ in there”.

It’s that type of mindset that will make you and keep you older than your years.

If that’s the story you want to tell yourself I’m calling you out and saying bullshit on that!

Don’t get me wrong.  As we age, so does our physiology. That is inevitable.  We lose muscle mass, we experience hormonal changes (both men and women) and yes, our metabolism slows down and to keep our weight to a healthy level becomes more and more of a challenge. Just because you’re over 40, it doesn’t mean that you’re doomed to live out the rest of your life feeling tired all the time, and not experiencing the best of health and thinking you’ll never lose weight and look and feel the way you did back in High School.

However, most people over 40 do think that and believe that.

Again, I say that way of thinking is bullshit.

You absolutely CAN feel better, look better, and have more energy and vitality.  You just have to BELIEVE you can.

And it all start with what I call “taking control of your health, rather than allowing your health (or lack there of) take control of you”.

It all starts with YOU

This is not rocket science and not as hard and complicated as you think it is.

First things first.

STOP eating foods you know are going to piss your body off.

Let’s be real.  If you’re taking any type of medication, whether prescribed by a doctor or over the counter, how much of that can be avoided or reduced simply by getting your ass off the couch and stop eating foods you know are not contributing to your overall health.

Time to take responsibility and take control

It’s time to take responsibility for where you are at now with regard to your health, fitness, general well being and quality of life.

You’re not in your 20’s or 30s, but what you do NOW is going to dictate how you live the rest of your life.

I don’t know about you, but I still plan on kickin ass and rockin’ life rather than life kickin’ my ass and it rockin’ me.  I don’t plan on living out the last 30 or so years of my life feeling sick, tired, weak and decrepit and neither should you.

I’m out living life and the quality of your life and the life you live becomes more important as you get older.

It’s not too late to turn things around.
Focus on your health first and foremost and with that strength, energy and vitality will fall into place.  Not to mention a better body too.

I can help you.  I know.  I’ve been there.

Believe it or not, there was a time that my health wasn’t always up to par, my energy levels were in the toilet and I was far from fit and I wasn’t happy not only with how I looked, but how I felt.

I turned all of that around.  Not at 20, and not at 30.  But in my 40’s.

And that’s why I put together the Transformation Over 40 program because we all deserve to feel better, look better, have more energy and really live life and enjoy those wonderful moments life has to offer .

2014 New Year

A new year is now upon us.  I always look forward to the New Year.  I see it as an opportunity to reflect on the year that was and think about what I’ve accomplished and the lessons I’ve learned and to keep moving forward.

For me, 2014 marks more than a new year.  It’s a new decade of my life.  A milestone.  I’ll be 50 in 2014.  So not only am I looking back at the year that was, I’m looking back at the last 10 years of my life.  As I look back and reflect, just like anyone else, I’ve had my share of struggles and triumphs both personally and professionally, but I persevered through it all.  The good, the bad and the ugly with a smile on my face, inner strength and determination.

Believe in yourself
One the biggest lessons I learned happened 10 years ago and still holds true.  It’s how I’ve been living the last 10 years of my life and will continue living the rest of my years.

As you embark on a new year, I want to impart this lesson on to you.

No matter what it is you want in life to fulfill your needs, wants, desires, dreams, goals, passions — whether it’s physical (health, fitness, weight loss), financial, relational, or spiritual, you will never achieve what it is you truly want for yourself if you don’t believe in yourself and don’t give up.

With all that I’ve achieved so far, no matter how difficult, I believe in myself and that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.  That mindset has enabled me to transform my body, do 2 figure competitions, quit my day job in Corporate America to pursue a fitness career, host an on line radio show, become an author, writer, entrepreneur, role model, provide service and value to my clients, as well as those who follow me, and so much more.

My 40’s was definitely a decade of major life transitions and leaps of faith and as I embark on my 50’s, I am already entering this new decade of my life, and the new year, with more transitions and leaps of faith.

I made certain promises to myself going into this new decade and I’ve recently achieved some of these promises.  In doing so, I look to the new year and next decade of my life with hope, promise, enthusiasm, excitement and joy.

I don’t worry about the what ifs, and take that leap of faith.  I turn obstacles into solutions and simply make shit happen

I’m able to do this, because I believe in myself and don’t allow fear or failure to get in my way.  To believe in yourself and pursue your hopes, dreams, goals and passions, even in the face of failure (and I promise you I have had my share of failures) takes courage, commitment and determination, even when those closest to you have advised.. “maybe you should throw in towel and look for a real job”.

Despite some deep, dark holes I’ve been in, I never gave up.  Wouldn’t give up.  I just kept chipping away knowing everything I was doing would come to fruition.  For me to go back the corporate world, have a desk job and live the 8-5 life would become a slow, painful death, and I vowed to NEVER go back to that life ever again.

Strength through transformation

In my 12 week fat loss program, Transformation Over 40, I talk about how my physical transformation was about much more than transforming my body.  It was an inside-out transformation.

When I transformed my body, I transformed my life.  When I look back at that initial transformation 10 years ago, I never dreamed I would be where I am now, the person I have become and the person I am becoming.

When you go through a physical transformation, going from flabby to fit, takes not just will power, determination, and commitment, but consistency.  Not giving up and throwing in the towel.  Sticking to your goals and staying the course.

These are characteristics and skills I learned and discovered about myself, from deep within, that you end up applying in other areas of your life to achieve all the great things you want for yourself.

When I transformed my body, I realized I had succeeded at the one thing that most people fail at, and if I can do this, there’s nothing I can’t achieve.

My wish for you

When you learn to believe in yourself, others will believe in you as well and they will champion your cause.  They will get caught up in your excitement and passion for what you believe in and they will rally behind you.

One of my favorite motivational speakers, Les Brown has a saying…. “You have greatness within you” and it’s true.  You do.  You just have to believe you do.  When you believe that, you will achieve greatness.

My wish for you in the New Year is to believe in yourself.

Before we turn the calendar to 2014, look back not just at the year that was, but look back on the last 5 – 10 years of your life.  Where have you been and where are you going?  What have you achieved and accomplished and how did you go about achieving your accomplishments?

Where have you failed and what will you do differently?  Are you where you want to be in your life and if not, where do you want to be?

Let go of excuses, be aware of those negative inner conversations you have with yourself that cause you self-sabotage.  Break free of all that holds you back.  As soon as you let go of negative forces (mindset, job, places, people),  good things will come your way.

I know this, because once I have let go of negative forces, something positive and better has filled the void and has gotten me 1 step closer to achieving what it is I wanted whether it was financial, relational or physical.

You really do have the power to create your destiny and the life you want to live in mind, body and spirit.  The first step to doing so, is simply to believe in yourself.

Wishing you all an EPIC new year and new beginning!
